Should SHIELD End?
I'll be straight up about it - Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is my favorite all-around show on tv, definitely my favorite comic book show. (Not counting Legion, which is too wonderfully weird.) The Netflix shows are grim, and often boring, while the CW shows are fun, and often silly. SHIELD in perfectly in the middle. Yes, most people are fans of one extreme or the other. I don't care.
After a rocky first season, SHIELD grew better every year after. It was epic, tragic, funny, and real. I watched new episodes on Hulu and on occasion, watched past seasons on Netflix. They ended the fifth season this past Friday with the belief they were being cancelled, wrapped up plot lines, and said goodbye to a few characters. Honestly, they did it in a such a fashion that I cried like a little kid.
And then they got renewed for a sixth season.
As much as I love the show, I don't know how I feel about that. I don't think I've ever seen a genre show end so perfectly before. And now they only have a 13 episode run that's not coming out until the summer of 2019, after Avengers 4. Characters Phil Coulson and Daisy Johnson better appear in that damn movie, or it definitely won't be worth it.
I know most people won't care, but if you've ever considered watching it on Netflix or gave up on it on some point earlier on... go jump in. Hydra, the Framework, Asgardians, LMD's, Inhumans, Time travel, Kree, the Darkhold, Mr. Hyde, Dethlok, and even Ghostrider. Perhaps the most diverse, compelling, engaging cast I've seen since Battlestar Galactica. It's worth it.
I just hope a sixth season is...
